Dreaming of Warmer Weather

I don't know where you are but here in NYC it is a chilly 51 degrees. It's really just too cold for comfort and when it gets chilly my favorite thing is to look at vacation destinations. Two years ago I bought last minute tickets to Miami, and last year it was Costa Rica, but now that I am married I can do it under the guise of honeymoon research. That being said, how much do you love Jetsetter and SniqueAway! There's so much deliciousness I don't quite know where to start!

{Banyan Tree Bangkok - Deluxe Suites starting at $90/night}

This a gorgeous restaurant with what they claim to be the highest rooftop restaurant in the world. D surprised with dinner and drinks at this lovely restaurant on our last night in Bangkok. It was incredible and so bitter sweet. Even though Bangkok isn't the traditional honeymoon destination its a great gateway to many of the most beautiful beaches in southeast Asia. That being said this next offer took my breath away.

This lovely location is the Banyan Tree in Koh Samui. I have a soft spot in my heart for Koh Samui. D and I spent a little over a month there. He was getting is ESL teaching certificate and I was just doing a lot of laying around on the beach, and getting massages. I really really do love it there... even though its super overdeveloped and a little touristy in many places. However if you are lucky enough to stay in a place like this, I can't image there is a more beautiful place in the world to be...

{Shamwari Game Reserve in South Africa}

Jetsetter seems to have a lot of deals in South Africa and they all look A-MAZING! Ever since the World Cup I've been toying with changing our honeymoon destination from Bali to South Africa.

{Wild Dunes – Isle of Palms, SC}

Since all the other locations I loved have been a little exotic I thought I'd throw in a little love at a domestic location! I haven't spent that much time on the east coast but the more time I spend stalking SW Mag beach weddings the more I realize I must be missing out!

I could really go on forever about the amazing deals on both these websites but I'll show SOME self-restraint and stop here!

They've both had a number of great deals in Costa Rica. I'm keeping my figures cross that they have a deal closer to our wedding so that we can book a few nights after the wedding for our mini-moon. D and I vacation A LOT but I am so excited for the first vacation we will take as husband and wife :D I really really want to book a honeymoon suite just because we can! On the other hand, I am so obsessed with this Tree House Villa in Costa Rica. It's a little more than we'd like to spend but there tends to be a lot of deals on hotels if you buy last minute especially because our wedding is at the beginning of the rainy season and before the summer season starts!

You win some, you lose some

Over a month ago I blogged about a gorgeous brooch I bought on hautelook. Unfortunately the brooch never came. Apparently Hautelook oversold the item and didn't have enough to send out to all their customers. :(

However Hautelook was super awesome about it and they gave me back my $20, plus an extra $20 for the inconvenience! YAY! I'm really hoping to hit up some flea markets this fall to find a replacement brooch but I already found this cutie on hautelook.

I think this would be a great dress for my wedding weekend. I kind of hate the way the this dress is styled in this picture,(as Michael Kors would say "Styling can make or break you outfit") but with a cute pair of sandals and a cute colorful necklace! I am not sure when I would wear it but it was only $25! Def worth it!

AMAZING deal for all my guest!!!

On Livingsocial today is the deal of the century...50% off jet luxury hotels. Why is this so exciting?!?! Because one of the luxury hotels is in Costa Rica where we are getting married. Buena Vista Villas is a gorgeous luxury resort in Manuel Antonio and for 50% off, a great deal! Even if you can't make it to Costa Rica for my wedding, it would make a great honeymoon or just a nice vacation.

Summer Suit Blowout!

While Dave and I were in New Orleans last weekend we spent a little time looking for seersucker suits/summer suits. I figured the south would be a better place to score a good lightweight suit but I was WRONG!! Turns out since its always hot in the south lightweight suits are a hot commodity all year round.

Since we got back from New Orleans I've been really obsessed with the attire for the guys. Two months a go, I got a great deal on these ties that I love, but the ties have kind of become this frustrating limiting factor. Dave really wants to wear a suit which is why I bought the ties in the first place... but the closer we get to the wedding the more I like the idea of putting the boys in shorts and white long sleeve button down shirts (with the sleeves rolled up). They'll have a cute boutonniere pinned to their pocket. done and done. But dave doesn't ask for much and if he wants to were a suit, gosh darn it... he'll wear a suit!

I decided to take a look online and I found a pretty great selection of seersucker suits on overstock.com.

*Alexander Julian - $119.00
*Adolfo - $97.99
*Haspel - $100.97

With suit prices hovering around $100 its a really great deal... and with shipping and handling fixed at $2.95 its an amazing deal!!! Unfortunately this deal IS too good to be true... all these suits are only available in "weird" sizes.

Upward and onward...

Then I stumbled upon this great deal:

{Jos A. Bank - $158}

Then I found this great sale at Jos A. Bank! Lots of sizes, colors, and styles!!

Then as usual I was hit with a wave of indecisiveness.I LOVE seersucker! But my future husband does not and event though its a great price, I just don't know if we need to spend $150 on a suit that he will never wear again.

So I checked out the other lightweight cotton suits, and there are really a lot of great deals. There is even a really good selection of colors and styles, and with free shipping and handling for all orders over $175, I think its been a great find! However, as usually, I have become so overwhelmed by all the choices that I can't even make a decision! Luckily I have the best Fiance in the world and he's agreed to go to Jos A. Bank with me tomorrow to try on the different colors/styles/sizes, hopefully we'll come home with a wedding suit. If not, at least we'll know which styles and sizes work best and we can come back and order tomorrow!

There is also a Men's Wearhouse right next door and they are having a "buy one get one free" labor day weekend sale! Turns out its actually a great time to buy summer suits in New York city.

*** I ordered a summer suit for Dave from Banana a few weeks ago because I got a "40% of any two items" coupon in the mail (I have highly utilized banana republic visa card). Somehow they shipped me the jacket and then sent me an email saying that they made a mistake and they no longer carry the pants I ordered. So I had to return the jacket. It was a GReAt suit for a great price... too good to be true :(

Upscale E-Vites

Today Ideeli featured a groupon-esque deal for $60 worth of invites at Paperless Post.

Paperless Post is a New York-based company founded in 2008 by siblings Alexa and James Hirschfeld. PP combines all the thoughtful charm of a letterpress invite with the ease of electronic delivery, including the ability to monitor and track guest responses.

The site has grown to include hundreds of design options for dozens of special (wedding-related) occasions: engagement party invitations, save the dates, bachlorette party invitations and great thank you notes. You can even add extra customization like borders, envelope liners, and you can even create your own monogram - with so many options, the design process can actually be pretty addictive.

Not only are these invites cost effective, they are great for the environment too!

Here are some of their great designs:

How amazing are these!?!? I love the envelope liners. The attention to detail really makes these e-vites unique.

I probably wouldn't use these for my Stds or Wedding Invitations because I have a high rate of internet illiteracy on my guest list but it would be awesome for a bridal shower or bachlorette party.

****If you wanna get in on the Ideeli deal, you better hurry... the deal ends at midnight!!

Custom Dresses

I love the idea of a custom dress. Not only can these amazing dresses be done for less but they can reflect the brides personal style. This a custom dress from Kimera Design located in Brooklyn, NY.

I especially love the covered buttons and the fishtail back. Love is in the details right? I don't know if it's exactly my style but I think it's a great dress for an a-mazing price!! Dresses start as low as $198. This particular dress is priced at $448. Kimera claims its goals are to inspire your creative spirit and to guide you in discovering your own personal style. Now perhaps I've lived in NYC for too long but I tend to be a little suspicious of things that cost too little (perhaps law school has just made me overly suspicious).

Another custom dress designer that I follow is Bridal Bliss Designs she is a former gown designer who now owns a store on etsy. I am a little apprehensive about ordering a dress from someone I've never met. However, her reviews are overwhelmingly positive and when I emailed her regarding her services she responded promptly and professionally. At this point I am about 75% committed to using her services.
