Our wedding photographer

I've been feeling a little overwhelmed lately and one of my favorite things to do when I'm feeling down is looking at wedding pictures. I especially love to swoon over Julie Comfort's blog! I fell in love with Julie's photography long before I decided I wanted her to be our photographer. I fell in love with the way I felt when I looked at her pictures. They really made me want to be one of those brides... All her couples look so happy, and in love but not posed. The emotion in her pictures looks so natural and easy. Best of all, all the weddings seem to have a slightly different feel. They don't feel like the exact same shots with different couples in different settings. Her pictures really made me feel like that could be me, and that she would be a wonderful addition to my (our) big day!

So I decided to contact Julie. I was super nervous about getting in touch with her because I had such high expectations and I didn't know what I would do if it didn't work out. After a few days of email tag, I was finally able to talk to her on the phone, and it was great!

The moment she said "I'm really like a ninja," I knew we would be just fine. Here are some of my very favorites from her blog:

Vintage Magic in the Tropics

One of my biggest wedding pet peeves is people who have beach-themed weddings on the beach! WTF?!?! I really can't see another white and blue beach themed destination wedding. I just that that it shows little to no creativity or inspiration. I was starting to feel a little depressed by my prospects then... I saw this wedding!

I adore the moody feel of this wedding. I don't particularly love any of the details but I do love the way it makes me feel to look at the images. I think a lot of the feel comes from the way the photographs were taken and processed so...

I followed the trail and found this other wedding:

I love this reception set up! I love the lace overlay on the tables and the gorgeous white orchids. It has the exact feel I want to have at my wedding. I guess the moral of the story is you can have a whimsical, vintage, intimate wedding in Costa Rica.

You Can't Win Them All

About 3 weeks ago I was on TWC and stumbled upon a deal I couldn't pass up. Erin Wigger was offering 5 lucky couples a $50 engagement photo session. I registered, like I do for dozens of contest and giveaways a week, but this time I won!

Boudoir Photos??

{Couture Boudoir}

I'm no prude.
I understand the appeal of boudoir photos.
I understand the appeal of memorializing your body when its looking so fantastic.
I understand that my FF would LOVE to get these as a wedding present.
What I don't understand is, what do you do with boudoir photos?
I'm not Samantha Jones. I don't think I could hang a picture like that in my living room. I certainly don't think I'm self-centered enough to even hang it in my bedroom.

Regardless, I think some of these photos are not just sexy, but really gorgeous. Here are some of my favorites:

Raising Star...

We call all agree that it is super hard as a bride-to-be to navigate all the wedding vendors that are available out there. Well, I can only imagine how hard it is for a new talent to break into the industry. That being said, I was recently informed of the launch of Lynette Boyle's photography website. I don't know Lynette personally but I do know this lovely couple she photographed... I think the photographs are pretty adorable so I thought I'd share her new website with you.

Lynette is based out of Boston. So if you are looking for new talent at an affordable rate, definitely check her out!
