Details:Paper Straws

{Source}
I first noticed these fabulous striped straws when I entered SWMag's MMInk calligraphy contest. (BTW how much do you love Moya from MM Ink). Then I started to notice that they are everywhere...which was inevitably followed by this ache in my stomach for paper straws (which I didn't even know was a think two weeks ago!) It's embarrassing but true. I am such a sucker for cute details. I mean, LOOK:

So here's the deal on these darling details. As far as I can tell they come in a few colors: red, green, hot pink, blue and gray. You can get them from Kikkerland and they come in boxes of 50 for $3 or 144 for $7. I am not sure how much shipping and handling is but Kikkerland is in the UK so it may be quite pricey.
Art Fire
also has them in packs of 100 for $16.

There are also a number of sellers on Etsy and Ebay who sell these straws but they all seem to be fairly pricey. All the Etsy sellers I could find seem to sell them with the flags included so they are about $25 for 20!

While it seems like most people like to decorate the actual paper straws, I love this mix and match idea. How a-dorable are those stirrers??

The further along I get in the planning process, the more I realize that one of the best and worst things about a small wedding is that I am convinced that I can add/afford anything and everything....sigh.

Has anyone gotten these straws? Did you find any good deals?What other wedding details have you fallen in love with that you didn't even know existed?

***EDIT: Shipping from Kikkerland is $10.

Friday Favorite Finds

It's been a long week. I haven't gotten a chance to blog as often as I would have liked but I did do a lot of blog reading.

That being said, every once in awhile I have a week that is just so choke full of good find that I have to put a list together of some of my five favorites!

1. An Amazing Wedding Dress...

{Source}

I don't know what it is about this dress, but I find it mesmerizing. I love love love this dress. To be honest, I would have never bought it. I probably wouldn't have even thought to try it on. It's just so appropriate for the setting (Costa Rica) and so easy. It isn't trying to hard to be a wedding dress... it's really quite lovely.

2. AN ENTIRE WEBSITE dedicated to etsy GIVEAWAYS!

{Source}

I love giveaways! As you may or may not know, I have won THREE things thus far: 1. an e-photo session 2. bridesmaids cards and 3. a birdcage veil.

3. My E-Pics on Wedding Chicks

{Source}

It's really just a vendor page but it's still kind of cool, right?

4. Vintage Stamps on Anthropologie

{Source}

I love vintage stamps and I had kind of given up on using them. Then I saw these on Grey Likes Weddings and was pulled back in!

5. The first online Costa Rica Wedding Magazine

Last but certainly not least, my oh-so-fab wedding planner is starting the very first online Costa Rican Wedding Magazine. It's so cool and I'm so excited for her so I thought I'd share the link to the blog. The E-Mag doesn't come out until Jan 1 and I can hardly wait!

Details: Hanging from the trees

My love for hanging flowers had developed into a full blown obsession.

Here's the deal, I love the way these flowers look in these close-ups but what do they look like at the actual wedding. You would probably have to have a few dozen to make a real impact, otherwise they would just look really sad. Nobody wants sad flowers at a wedding. This last picture is actually really great because its a great example of how to use this beautiful detail!

Hanging from the trees...

While I was in NOLA last weekend I was laying around watching tv (it rained for a whole day!) and I caught a glimpse of the new Taylor Swift video and noticed the gorgeous scenes in the woods with the hanging photographs. This reminded me of all the gorgeous weddings with gorgeous hung items.

There is something so romantic and almost dream-like about having things hanging from trees, blowing in the wind. I think its a hard balance to strike, between appreciating the natural beauty of an outdoor location and enhancing the beauty to make it your own.

One of the hardest things about planning a destination wedding is not knowing what the location looks like. It's impossible to plan DIY projects when I can't envision the location.

Well... not im-possible, but really really hard!

Chair Signs: Mrs. vs. Bride.

So I noticed both these chair signs today on two separate blogs. First of all I wasn't entirely sure if would be a necessary detail. Although I think they are adorable, I was pretty sure people will know where I'm sitting.Then I got to thinking, I am only going to be a bride for one day so I may as well live it up! I think the MR/MRS Signs are adorable for day after photo sessions but I have my whole life to be a MRS!

In case you are interested The Wedding Chicks have a great set of vintage DIY Bride/Groom signs. Enjoy!
